The Exposure Adjust effect works in a similar way to changing the exposure settings of a digital camera — it makes the entire image the shadows, midtones, and highlights together brighter or darker.
The Threshold effect converts all the colors in an image to high-contrast, black-and-white colors. The Invert effect inverts image colors. The Invert effect is not customizable — you can either turn it on or off. To have more control over how the adjustment blends with the layer, use the Invert adjustment in Color Adjustments or add it as an adjustments layer.
The Gradient Map effect maps out the color values of an image and replaces them with the colors of a selected gradient.
Used in combination with different blend modes, the Gradient Map effect can be used to subtly tint colors or give images an entirely different look and feel. Pixelmator Pro User Guide. Quick Links What's new? This blue tint comes from a special orange mask — a result of the film developing process — being inverted if you look at the color wheel, blue is the opposite of orange.
The image scan can also be easily affected by the color balance of the light source used when scanning. The three eyedroppers next to this menu are the Black, White, and Gray point pickers. Start by choosing the Black point picker and click the area in your image you think should be pure black. Next, choose the White point picker and select an area of your image that should be pure white, and finally, choose the middle, Gray point slider and select an area of your image that should be a neutral grey.
Tip Sometimes, it can be difficult to distinguish the darkest and brightest areas in a flat inverted photo. To give yourself a more workable image to begin with, you can take advantage of the Auto Color adjustment.
